Institut Océanographique Monaco
Description
Since its creation at the beginning of the 20th century, the Oceanographic Institute (Prince Albert I of Monaco Foundation) has traditionally acted at the crossroads of ocean science and public awareness and education to make the ocean known, loved and protected. The Institute has been the driving force behind numerous national and international projects (symposia, exhibitions, educational programmes, publications, etc.) to pursue its mission for mediation through its two establishments, the Oceanographic Museum (Monaco) and the Maison de l’Océan (Paris). As early as the late 19th century, our founder Prince Albert I of Monaco had a vision for the polar regions, recognizing as few did at the time the boundless opportunities entailed by polar exploration and the benefits of sharing the knowledge it generated.
